The MCREC 2025 summer and fall meeting schedule follows. Meetings of the full Committee will be held on Thursday, June 12; Thursday, September 11; and Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Wilma’s in Ft. Ashby, WV, starting at 6 pm. Depending on the volume of business, the Committee may have additional meetings which would be announced in advance. Sub-committee meetings on the by-laws and fundraising will be held. There is a goal of voting on the updated by-laws proposals in the September 11th MCREC meeting. If you have ideas for the by-laws or are interested in attending sub-committee meetings to volunteer, please E-mail us at the address above.

The MCREC projects to work on as approved by the full committee for 2025 include:

  • Work on developing a donor base and outreach for fundraising, as discussed in the full meeting.
  • Develop a list of Legislative items.
  • Develop a list of County ideas to improve Mineral County residents’ lives (similar to the prior biking and walking pathway letter where we could obtain money from the federal government for multiple pathways for Mineral County but was not adopted by the County Commission).
  • Update MCREC responsibilities PowerPoint slide.
  • Continue developing the MCREC mailing list.
  • Fill the last 2 seats on the MCREC (may have a candidate for one)
  • Strengthen relationships with local pastors and groups.
  • Strengthen relationships with the COS that had a table at our LDD
  • Education outreach to other local organizations such as Rotary and Chamber and voters
  • Put a legislative tracker on our MCREC website for residents
  • We need someone who knows WordPress very well to volunteer to work on upgrading our relatively new MCREC website, working with guidance from the Chair. The person does not need to be a member of the MCREC. A volunteer.
  • Push electronic transparency in county government for taxpayer dollars through the WV Auditor’s WV checkbook system. The clerk confirmed they are working on this.
  • Perform yearly review and update MCREC By-Laws if needed by year-end (Harry Copen will take the lead on this and coordinate with the Chair.)
  • Work on developing a possible Reagan Day Dinner for Spring 2026

As approved by the Committee, the Chair may reach out to individual members asking that they coordinate one of these areas on behalf of the MCREC:
